Hi em, it's so exciting isn't it! I get married the week after you (11th august!) howz the planning coming on? MrsStanding2be I've still not booked the venue yet [IMG] I left it up to h2b to do it and he reckons everytime he phones shes out or not working (yeh right, you keep forgetting more like!) so I might take it into my own hands and do it myself! (better yet, I'll pin him down tomoz and make him do it!!!) I have my dress too, it's already hanging in my mums room! I stumbled across a bargain that was to good to refuse! Other than that I'm just putting mood boards together for inspiration! what have you done? x

wow! that is a bargain for your dress! what dress is it? Well h2b tried ringing again today but the wedding planner doesn't work weekends! He left his details with the venue, so I'm going to ring monday after work to make sure she's done it! (pushy? me? lol) Then I can officially say its the 11th. I want to ring the registar now though, I'm getting impatient! x

Bailbrook house in bath, it was the 4th place we looked at and had the wow factor for us. My h2b looked at me in awe when we walked into one of the rooms, it's being silk lined and has fairy lights hanging from the roof. It's almost like a marquee but inside. what about you? x

Yours looks really nice too, I saw your post with the pics not long ago! We are getting married at bailbrook aswell, as neither of us is religious and we thought it would be nice to have everything at the same place. I got the contract and terms and conditions today so once we have signed that and sent them back it's officially our venue! We are getting 2010 prices too which is a bonus! x

I didn't get a chance to reply about my haggling coz the site went down when I tried! With the venue I did it face to face and with my dress I did it through email. The woman told me she wouldnt give me a price until I went in and tried the dress on. I knew she would wait for me to fall in love with it and only offer me a small discount, so I emailed back and said that because it would take me 40 mins to get to her I wasn't going unless I knew the price as I didn't want to get all the way there and then not be able to afford it anyway. That way she had to offer me a good price to get me to go over to her! (sneeky, but it worked!) [IMG] x

haha thats good!, well we are going to meet with the veune on sun, and i want to haggle as much as i can but not push.....what did you say to your venue?, i was thinking of asking them to hold the meals at this years prices (£24) as she is making us pay for 2012 so far....and also gonna try and get the bridal suit for free.

i want her to give me the food for £25 pp (thats mains and Dessert) and the kids £10 pp because atm its £24 for mains and £6 for dessert and that comes to £3,000 just for adults, and for children atm is £15 per child so that £165 so altogether thats £3,165. but if i can get her to keep the meals at £25pp thats £2,500 for adults and £110 for children so that comes to £2,610. So thats saves us £555 and if we can get the bridal room free that saves us another £300 so altogether we save £855.

These are the prices so far without haggling:

£1,700 for hall fire but its supposed to be £1650 so theres £50 off already lol
    childrens food 11 kids @ £15 £165
Adults Meals based on 100 £3000 (2 courses)
3 jugs of orange juice (equals to 18 glasses) £27
Bucks Fizz based on 100 adults £450
    Bridal suite £300
double room x2 £240 (for both)
    Family room £145
    Buffet £1000
    bar money £700

    Comes to just under £7,800

I just basically said that they were at the top end of our budget of all the places we had seen (I made sure I told them I was interested in other places so they knew we had other options) and was there anything they could do for us. At our venue they do an all inclusive package as they call it at 85pp. which includes meal drinks etc. We had to pay a premium because we didn't have the 80 people they wanted (we would have had to pay 500 for this). So they said they would break down all the prices for us and we could pay for what we wanted. We cut out some alcohol as the package included 6 glasses each, we also cut out canapes (but we will probably put them back in for around 300.00). Our rooms are 99.00 per room including breakfast and ours is free the night before and the night of our wedding. We are also paying 2010 prices. oh and children are 17.50 each which includes 3 course meal and unlimited squash.

The quote you have for 100 day guests is really good though! we are only having around 55! I would definately push for 2010 prices and a free bridal suite, all you can do is try! If they really won't budge I still think it's a good price (I saw the website and the place looks lovely)

Blimey! £17.50! for kids! and i thought mine was bad! lol, i was thinking of saying we are also looking elsewhere but i have i'm struggling to find places in essex.

Yeah i agree with you it is a good price for everything, we was going to have our reception in the hilton hotel in Dartford Kent but they wanted £8000! the place is crap! lol.
