What Do I Need To Change My Name On....

Hi,

I keep thinking about all the things that my name will need change on once I'm married... and I thought it might be useful to start a 'list' for brides to be... we can all add to it, so hopefully between us we won't forget anything .. and maybe we can make it a 'sticky' thread ?

So far I have ..

* passport
* drivers licence
* bank accounts
* council tax
* insurance - home, car, travel, pet, life....
* utility bills
* email addresses

....anyone think of anything else?

exactly the reason why i'm not changing my name!

haven't even finished changing my address details from when i moved in with DF a year ago!

I was thinking today it will be really strange at work to start calling myself Mrs Brown!!! I worked out I have to change log in on computer, log in for emails, log in for records, ID badge, inform human resources, have to change photo board on reception, amend all my letter heads!!! And thats just work....

mmmmmm reckon might just stay as Miss!!!

Rather selfishly, I'm just bumping this up the most recent so I can find it easily later on, sorry ladies
In hindsight, this thread would have been a much better place for my 'changing my name at the bank' rant! Nevermind.

 

I found it amazing how many companies wanted me to send my marriage certificate through the post to be able to change my name, obviously with no guarantee that it would get back to me, surely there must be an easier way. I did have to send it off to renew my driving licence in July and luckily it came back within a couple of days which was a relief, but I must admit one of my insurance policies is staying in my maiden name as I don't want to risk sending it out again. Luckily hubby didn't have to be there when I changed the joint account but I had to have my new card changed three times as they used my maiden name again (??) and on another one they put Ms Ball as opposed to Mrs, petty of me but I didn't want it to be Ms!!!

 

I'm really concerned about sending off my original too, even if it's posted recorded delivery there's no guarantee that it's going to be safe when it gets to it's destination. And I'm sure someone has posted on here recently that the DVLA lost theirs.
I'm particularly reluctant to send mine off as it took long enough to appear from Anerica in the first place and who knows what kind of pain getting it replaced would entail - I can see it taking years! I wonder if I could get a notorised (spell?) copy and use that.

And OF COURSE you want to a Mrs not a Ms on your official stuff, that's the whole point!

 

All I've changed so far is my bank details... Slacking somewhat haha. Not even changed my facebook yet and I'm pretty sure I don't even need my certificate for that!

 

This is going to be really useful as I'm just about to start doing all this!

I changed my name on our joint savings account before we went off on honeymoon so we could pay in the joint cheques we got given though.

 

A year on, and I still haven't changed my name on my passport, my credit cards, my mortgage, paypal, house insurance. You get the drift....

 

OMG I love a list but this is HUGEMUNGOUS!!!! hehe. I am printing this thread so I have it all ready for next weekend!! Also if anyone has children, you should inform their schools!! xx

 

I realised the other day that I hadnt changed my answer phone message on work mobile (despite changing name at work almost straight away!) Hopefully it put off people leaving a message ha ha!!

I do find it strange to hear my maiden name now!!!!

 

Im quite excited about changing my name......my step kids call me Barney due to my surname at the moment so I keep telling them Barney is disappearing forever after next Friday heeh xx
