Our friends are getting married in October and Ian is best man which is very exciting (the groom was Ian's best man too). To cut a long story short we went shopping for placemats and coasters last night in John Lewis, and I ended up buying a dress for their wedding!! I'm sure if I'd have been looking for an outfit I wouldn't have found anything... it always seems to happen when I'm not looking

Anyway I'm really pleased with it - even more so because it was in the sale! :D

I'm just struggling to decide what accessories to get... I think the problem is that there are too many options! As the wedding is in October I should probably think about a coat or cover-up too. If I can find a nice jacket then that would be my first choice of cover up, but if not then I'll probably get a pashmina to match with whichever accessories I get.

I'm such a fuss pot with shoes. I have horrible toes so I don't like anything that exposes them too much, and I always try and avoid spindly heels as I've got wobbly ankles.

My thoughts so far for accessories:

Gold - blingy shoes and statement necklace/earrings
Nude - not quite so awesome, but would look elegant and would be more useable after the wedding
Multicolour - eg bright blue or purple.

    What do you think?

thats dress is beautiful i love the color..

Jays cousin prom dress was this color she wore nude accessories, when she showed me i was like those colours do not go at all but when i did hair and make up for her she looked beautiful i dint think nude would go but ive grown to like it ...

id also go for very small sized accessories..

Becky what a fabulous dress, I'd keep it understated and elegant with the Nude accessories (that could be because i haven't worked out hhow to do Big Gold statement without looking a bit chavvy! everyone seems to manage it just not me)

Will keep an eye out for more reasonably priced shoes!

    I found these

No where near as glam as those shoes, but also a million times cheaper! Like the idea with nude with sparkle, that way you could add sparkle to accessories like a sparkly bangle or clutch.

You never know with this weather but October could be warmer than now. Is the wedding all in one venue? A wrap is defo needed by then can take off once warm inside.

    Ps love the dress!

The Next sale is on Saturday.
I'm not certain but I'm guessing those shoes will be half price.

Ooh they are lovely! Probably a bit high for me though...

I was lusting after the Aruna Seth shoes for the wedding wasn't I? I came to the conclusion that I could get some nude peep toes and put a sparkly brooch on the toe... might have to look into that option again!!

    That's such a gorgeous dress!

My cousin is getting married next year and I haven't thought about what I'll wear yet (still a long way off, of course), but maybe I will - any excuse to go shopping!

I think a midnight blue would look good if you wanted something a bit bolder and brighter. Gold would also look nice and bright if it is an overcast day, a softer gold rather than a bright one if that makes sense. Nude is your safe option, like you say you would probably get loads of wear out of nude shoes and accessories... Decisions!

Oh my goodness, you're right!! It sounds terrible but I'd forgotten all about them... since we moved house they have been packed away and haven't seen the light of day for months. They've got a pewter coloured sparkly beetle on the toe, so I could accessorise with things to match that. In fact... I could even wear my Jenny Packham headband that I wore for my wedding day. What do you think? Too much??

Here's a couple of reminder pictures:

Gorgeous... Defo to too much. I know other people who have worn their accessories to other weddings.

Just need a bag and wrap now then?

Those shoes and headband would be gorgeous, love the dress (that's the colour I'm having bridesmaids in) I love the bag but I don't know if it would steal the show a bit maybe.

I think a gold shoe would be nice, or even an ivory at a push.

I think a simple neclakce, not too blingy and simple drop earrings.

I prefer silver colour in jewellery so I'd go for white gold or silver. (My engagement ring is white gold and our wedding rings are too).
