    Hello all

For weeks/months I've been trawling the internet for an unusual guest book. It doesn't necessarily have to fit in with our theme of black, ivory and red - but I'd like it to be a little different!!

I recently bought this new notebook, and I'd like it to be along the lines of this maybe - and without the Union Jack perhaps!

Currently I like polka dots and retro flower patterns and bold colours and almost clashing patterns. I don't particularly like bows or the words 'Guest Book' written on the front.

Perhaps the music theme could be incorporated into the design - something along the lines of this but I'm still not too keen on these to be honest... (especially the baby pink.)

I found this one which I like the TEXTURE of, but a) it's too boring, b ) it has a bow on, c) it's over £50 which is quite expensive.

So I'm opening up my wants and desires to the forum... Bring my perfect guest book to me please girls and boys!

P.S. I'm also very open to unusual guest book ideas - but not trees or tables.... I'm a bit fussy aren't I?

You can get those ones in Athena, I was looking at one last week when I was meant to be looking at presents for a friend :)

In the paperchase sale they have a lovely matt gold tree card holder (not xmas tree but willow type tree) I am thinking of getting that and some cards for people to use next to it. It#s only £7.99.

Hmmm that's a tricky one! I've not seen any that I really like either, so I was thinking of getting a fairly plain ringbound notebook from Paperchase (something like this maybe) and covering the front cover with some cool paper from there. Could that work for you too?

We probably won't have a traditional guest book - I was thinking maybe setting up some funny props for people to use in photos (eg moustaches on sticks, hats, etc), leaving a polaroid camera and a pen, and seeing what people come up with! :)

Yay for props. I've got an old case and a few hats & a feather boa so far but am looking for fabric for the backdrop and a large frame. It's an awesome idea for your theme / era of inspiration too!

I have seen that you and me one before its good. We made ours because we couldn't find one got a purple book from an art shop then printed off one off or invitations design with just our names and the date. It cost about £3 but looked really great.

For dressing up box wedding porn check out this blog entry on Rock My Wedding. I am currently busy making pompoms the same as they had and adore their dressing up booth so much I am taking inspiration from it and getting lots of 1940's props to do my own. Just need a big pic frame now so will be off to the recycling centre again! :D

    awesome inspiration right here

I've seen the You and Me one in my local garden centre, I like the idea of filling in the pages but when I had a closer look at it it didn't really fit in with what we are doing etc.

I'm thinking along the same lines as Becky at the moment and getting a plain book and sticking some bits on it... I agree that a lot of the guest books you see are a bit dull.

Maybe you could print off the music from your first dance and cover a plain book with it and then you could have whatever coloured accessories you liked? :D

I think I've just found the solution!

Buy a notebook and stick lots of nice paper/bits of music/photos of me and Richard on it! And write a personal message inside.

    Thanks guys!!! :D

But now Richard says that doing that will make the guest book look like a personalised school text book.

    Argh!

    Pish tish :D

I'm sure anything you turn your hand to will not look like a school book, and he's bound to come round when he sees the finished result :D

    Like the post-it/collage idea!

I knew someone who got a digital camera connected to a printer at their wedding. People took photos and put them in an album and could then write their message next to it. You could do something similar but personalise the album. Love the sheet music idea too, would be bob on for you :D

I actually think I'd like that! Mum brought round (ie dumped) all my old school stuff I'd had at hers a while ago, and after a year of doodling, the inside of my English folder looked 'ace' (a word we overused heavily!) we were also apparently in love with keanu reeves. I'm rambling now. Good luck!
