We've decided that our table names are going to be genres of music we like as we're both musicians and most of our friends are musicians. We have the names for all the tables except the top table. We're trying to find a name for the top table that sums up all genres of music without it being actually 'music' but we're having a bit of trouble and thought you lovely people might be able to help.

Names for the other tables are as follows: (Some of them may seem a little niche but I assure you they are appropriate!!)

    Bhangra
    Classic Rock
    Contemporary Classical
    Folk
    Funk
    Jazz
    Old Skool
    Progressive Metal

We thought about just having another genre for the top table but none of them seem to be grand enough!

    Thoughts?!

What about the word music but in a different language (one that is related to the two of you) as it may look a little more grand, Or you could do like Prince and have a symbol!?

    That's hilarious, a symbol! :)

Someone suggested that it could be called 'the top ten' which I quite like as there will, indeed, be ten people on the table. But it stil doesn't feel completely right!!

Hmmm that's a tricky one... what was the name of the band that you were both in? Could that work? x

The name of the band was 'Artifact'.

We considered that but I got a grimace from H2B! We also considered naming the tables after all the band we've been in together and separately. We didn't have enough though!

The Best Of.. isn't a bad idea. However that seems to be more fitting if we were having album names for the tables.

    This is so hard!!

I just looked through the list of genres on the i-tunes store.

    How about New Age?

It's not a necessity to name tables, it's just fun if something meaningful can be made of it! I'm looking forward to all my musician friend's reactions when they see what genre of music I've put them under! It's all just silly music geekery, but we all like geekery!!

p.s. My H2B is also a geek! I see that's a common theme with many brides to be on here!!

New Age? I dunno Frogbitch, the genre doesn't mean anything to us and makes us sound like Medieval Role playing hippies :)

On the Prince theme, I've thought of 'the artist formerly known as Alam' (as in my surname) - but then that's just revolving the whole them around Prince and I fear we'd have to change the wedding theme entirely!!

Let's not stereotype people based on their musical tastes now... :)

Does it have to be completely related to the rest of them? I agree with not having 'music', its not exciting enough for a top table (just my opinion!). How about album names? Each pick a selection of albums that shaped your music taste or desire to be musicians, or even songs that mean something to you?

How about calling your table 'The Melody'? Seems kind of poetic - something that all the other genres have, and is the main focus of a song... which would be what you are on the day! I'll put my thinking cap on for some more ideas :)

or you could just use a quote as your table name:

"If Music be the Food of Love, Play On!"

    it's a bit wordy, but it's a good summary...
