The lettering for my table came today.
When I get to work tomorrow I'm expecting striped bags (just like yours Welshbride but black and white), and scoops to be waiting for me.
The plan was to go to Sainsburys at the end of this week to get some sweets with my Nectar points, and then top them up with some old favourites from other sites.
Not sure if Russ will be up for doing any of that now though.

I love the idea of a sweetie table - especially the school tuck shop idea! I'd have to buy the sweets the week before the wedding though, as I don't think I would have enough will power to have them in the house with me for any long period of time! :)

Ok, here's what it looks like so far.
The striped bags haven't arrived yet, and we're off to Sainsburys to buy the bulk of the sweets tomorrow.
I might also get osme black and white ribbon to edge the jars.
As it stands, I'm thinking I need a few more jars or vases. I'd rather have too much than not enough.

    LOVE IT!!!!
I use similar jars, though they are plain glass for my spices! If you have too many there's always something you can do with them after or ebay them!!

I plan to buy some of the retro sweets in boxes.
I do have plenty of smaller vases and serving dishes, so I'll see how far the money goes tomorrow and work it out from there.
Given the lettering, i'd better buy some After Eights too!

I think the amount of jars depends on how many you are catering for. I will have 60 guests.
I am worried that my stuff might get lost on a large table which is why I'm going to add the retro boxes. The boxes of drumsticks for instance hold 60 items, so for me that's perfect.

Ooh, its looking really good. Can't wait to start buying stuff for mine! How many jars and sweets are you thinking of doing? I'm having 60 day guests and 80 evening guests. Not sure when to 'open' the sweetie table so probably cater for 80. No idea how many jars and sweets to buy!! I'm going to leave some in the retro jars as well as we are buying them from Makro and it will look more like a tuck shop! xxx

Our numbers are pretty much the same!
I'm not totally sure how much to get either, but my budget won't allow for me to go too crazy.
We're putting the table out after the cake has been cut, in the hope it will give guests something to do in the gap between dinner and the evening reception.
The jars I have do hold quite a bit. From a symmetry point of view I wouldn't buy more than another five, but I do have lots of random vases and serving dishes I can use to add height.
I think the jars I have now will be for the more basic stuff, and then the retro stuff can go out either in their tuck shop boxes, or in anything else I have lying around.
I'm off to Sainsburys today. I can't wait to see the look I get when I get to the checkout!

Ahh it looks great! Those jars are exactly the ones I want... And so cheap!! I may have to go for a trip to Ikea in this case... maybe one day next week and hope and prey they still have some!!

I have brought from ebay some purple and white striped bags and from confetti some small sweetie scoops - were great as had 20% off! Whoop!

Thanks for all the ideas ladies - glad to see we all have such great taste!!

On the sweetie front - going to have an online "shop around" nearer the big day to get the best deal... May check out local cash and carry and see if they have the goods too.

    xx
