    Here's my perfect ring cushion.

But it's in Australia and they don't deliver here and I've looked EVERYWHERE for the same one, so....

I could totally make my own - but does anyone have any tips? Any patterns? Anything I should know?

Also - where to get beautiful shiny satin in Manchester?!

OR does anyone know where to get this over here?!

for future ref for fabrics in Manchester... be brave on a Sat and go to the Longsight market, amongst the amazing array of exotic veg and fruit, scary flat chickens hanging up and huge blocks of jaggerty cut to size with a machete is a fabric stall of doom! She sells every concievable fabric, many are cath kidston (no idea if genuine or fake but excellent quality) and all for £1 per metre. Haven't been for a few years but my friend tells me she's still there with the same prices ;)

I like Mrs Browns idea - off we go to Oz. Big Day Down Under?

and yes, Longsight market appears scarey. I'll tell you a little story behind that. I moved to Manchester back when I was in my 20's and worked for BT as a project manager so was used to travelling. Being a bit (lot) naive and with the accent of a posh southern tart (their words not mine), I waltzed up there and moved into the V&A hotel for a year. All was good. someone mentioned to me an asian sweet shop in Longsight so I got on a bus and merrily headed off in search of awesome sweeties. I found the scariest place ever (apart from Moss Side), and yet loved it. I love the mixture of cultures - on one strip you have the chinese supermarket, the afro-carribean supermarket, indian supermarkets, awesome restaurants and take aways with things we never hear of down south and would pay a fortune for in the sainsburys speciality section yet would cost pennies up there.

I became addicted to honey & yellow bean rolls still warm from the chinese bakers on the corner and got ued to my sugar being cut in jaggerty blocks and weighed. I bought a little house up the road in Levenshulme in the irish area and no matter how dodgy the area was, how many alarms went off regularly etc I will always love my few years there. Sadly there is not such a cultural diversity of shops and people in the south west. I miss it. Sometimes amongst the most hard places I can imagine to live are the people that have the most strength and I saw that time and time again.

On a dafter level... I arrived there assuming all mancunians supported man U and that man city was the rugby team. I also got invited to tea on Moss Side and got a cab not understanding why he inisted on locking all the doors to travel through the estate until I watched three children steal a courier delivery van. Apparently most couriers refuse to be there! Maddness.

Never been to manchester but lovely ring cushion though! Also if you need anymore fabric try millcroft textiles not as cheap as £1 a metre but very good fabrics. They are very friendly too, its where I have bought the fabric for for my bridesmaid dresses. I also bought some for my dress & the little BM's from this seller on ebay Spikeys fabrics hope this helps xxx

If your crafty-ness does'nt come about, i am still in New Zeland until October 10th, you could order it and have it delivered to me, and i can post it to you...
failing that, i am in Oz for 2 weeks in October, so you could have it delivered to me there.... or i could pick it up, if the shop is near Perth.

Don't know if thats helpful.. x

Aww that's so kind of you :)

The shop is in Brisbane. My sister is actually in Australia until April and is planning to stop by Brisbane at some point so she's on standby to pick one up, should my crafty-ness fail!

Thank you ever so much though
