Thanks guys! We are going to go & see the ramada jarvis tomorrow after work. They do a 3k package & it looks quite nice so am looking forward to going there. Have told Mark though that if we have it there we need chair covers which we originally weren't going to have as they have really moody blue chairs. And I mean realllyyy moody!!!! lol xxx

OMG it was awful!!! The reception was lovely. They must have spent a fortune doing it up but the rooms where the wedding will be were horrible!! All shabby & smelly!! They have a 'garden' for the photos to be taken. It is about a 3ft by 3ft concrete slab with the rooms around it. It honestly looked like a hospital courtyard! Mmm on with the searching me thinks!!
However have found this place. Going to ring them tomorrow for a quote but fingers crossed their prices wont be through the roof & it is closer to us than any other venue so far!!!

Sorry to hear about your experience! Our hotel is very modern and lovely and we have an AMAZING package but their 'garden' for photos is tiny altho ok. Carpets and curtains leave a little to be desired but hopefully our decorations will offset them! Luckily we have the beautiful school grounds to use for our photos and were only planning on informal photos at the reception anyway - esp as the light will be fading by the time we arrive there.

The new place looks lovely with a reasonalbe package and the food looks scrummy. Hope you have more luck with this one! xxx

Ok so I have booked it!! Eeek!! Only provisional & I haven't even seen it yet! Going to see it Thursday but just get such a good feeling and the lady I spoke to was lovely! Trusting my woman's intuition I think. I haven't paid any deposit yet so if I don't like it I can just cancel with no obligation but I am just so excited!!! Have provisionally booked it with the registry office too as when I spoke to them this morning they only had 8th April availiable. They had only 1pm & 4pm on the 15th & the same on the 29th. They are closed for the 22nd as it's good Friday so we have bought it forward to the 8th at 2pm!!!! The registrar was lovely too it just all seems like it is meant to be!!! Oh & also they don't have any bedrooms as it used to be a restaurant, they have only been doing weddings for the past year or so but they have a travel lodge about half a mile down the road & they said they can do breakfast back at the venue the next morning if we want! I am so happy!!!!!!! Don't even care that it isn't a bridal suite in Travel lodge, just longs we don't have 2 single beds pushed together I don't care lol     :lol:xxx

Soph I bet your hotel is gorgeous! The Ramada was just so smelly as well as shabby. Think they should have spent more on the rooms rather than the reception lobby!! You are so lucky being able to have your pics taken in the school grounds. It sounds wonderful xxx

Really hope you fall in love with it when you go to view it - and the bonus is you get married slightly earlier than expected! Have you changed your ticker?!?!?! xxx

Weird! The hubby has gone back to work tonight so I'm all alone!!! There are some pics on facebook but won't get the proper ones until the end of August! Watched the ceremony film today, it was quite funny. Spencers middle name is Preston and for some reason every time it was mentioned I giggled!!! xxx

Can see one that your friend put up, but can't comment on it . You look amazing though & you both look so so happy xxx

    Julia, report, pleeeeeease!

Mrs G, so glad everything seems to have worked out, and that you feel si happy & excited about the new venue. As a few people have said, things MUST happen for a reason. There have been several occasions where something has fallen through (new house/job etc) and I've been gutted, but then without exception a few weeks later something much better has come along and I've thought thank god!! I the original thing fell through! As you've found  x
