Sorry to derail the thread, bur our dog collapsed and died of heat exhaustion yesterday. We are both devastated.

Russ finally looked at the dog poem last night, and he likes it too, so he rang his Mum to ask if she would read it during the ceremony.
    SHE SAID NO!!!
It looks like sh'es going to be the only close family member not to be involved in the wedding.
    Russ is not impressed.

What was her reason for saying no, if you don't mind me asking. No wonder Russ isn't impressed.....

She says she can't as she's "dyslexic."
It didn't stop her being a teacher.

aw, don't be upset though - she probably spends ages rehearsing all her lesson plans, and most of the time they wouldn't involve reading anyway.

i would say no to you as well - i just cannot read out loud in public. it makes me so scared that i have palpitations and sweats.
i can totally understand why she wouldn't want to.

is there anything else she would be willing to do to be directly involved? maybe help with the seating or direct people places?
something that doesn't involve having to expose herself...

She doesn't have great mobility, as she's been battling cancer for years, so I'm not sure what she could do.
I actually thought it weird that Russ asked her, as they don't really get on that well, but as she's a big dog lover, I guess he thought she'd be the appropriate person to choose.

Neither set of parents has been greatly involved with the wedding. They are both giving us money towards our honeymoon, which is fantastic, but Russ' parents live 2 hours away so can't help, and my parents always seem to be too busy.

I think Russ has asked one of his friends to do it now, but I don't know if he's said yes or not.
There are a couple of people on my side I could ask too, so it should work out fine.

I finally have someone to do the reading for us!
My ex boyfriend has agreed to do it. I'm so glad that he's going to have a part in the wedding.
