    Hi everyone,

My names Amy. I just got engaged to Howard in April after 6 years of being together. :D We are from Scotland but currently living in Malta until November and getting married in Stratford-upon-Avon on the 12th July 2014. I know...
We booked the registrar last week and now starting to look at how much a wedding is going to cost! eeek...

We are going for a vintage chic theme with having the Reception in a farm.
I am going to make my own decorations (bunting, paper pom poms, etc) also going to make my own invites and wedding cake. Am I wise? Probably not, I think it will cause more stress but need to save the money somewhere!!

I Cant think of what else to say now! Any questions just ask!

    Amy x

    Welcome to BigDay Amy! :)

You lucky girl living in Malta! What takes you there?

There are lots of DIY brides here so you are in good company. The key is good planning - you'll be fine!

    How did your fiance propose?

Congratulations! Enjoy the planning, it can be stressful but you'll enjoy doing things yourself and it makes it all feel a bit more special :)

    Welcome!

I'm one of the mad people who made everything ;) invites, miles of bunting, table centres, flowers, cake, photo collages, all the venue set up! I loved doing it all! My main tip would be to leave plenty of time to do it all. For example the flowers took me about 6-7 hours the day before and the cake took several days plus 2 hours on the morning putting it all together.

Welcome to the forum. Do you have family I'm Stratford?

I made lots of things for my wedding, an awful lot of bunting if I recall. It's great to make things yourself.

Looking forward to hearing your plans x

    Hi Amy and welcome!

There's nothing better than adding your own personal touch!

Just like B&Q says "I did that!" :D
