France’s Craze For British and American Weddings

    Looks like we Brits are now trend setters for the French!

    I knew that the Croquembouche was a traditional part of French weddings, but I had no idea that they don't usually have bridesmaids! As an aside, the history of wedding cakes was also quite interesting. I'm glad they don't coat them in lard anymore!!

    I wonder if we'll be getting French ladies on the forum...

    I didn't know that bridesmaids were a British/American thing.

    You may find several cakes in shops still use lard based icings or a lard substitute. One of my friends has asked me to make her wedding cake and wanted the same recipe used by a wholesaler that uses huge amounts of white fat in the icing and not much else.
