If you want a really nice dress on a budget, you could try sample sales - ask around wedding shops to see when they're on. You can usually get a huge discount, although you may need alterations doing.

Aside from that, how about getting quotes from a local dress maker? That way you could get exactly what you want for a lot less [IMG]

What kind of styles fo you like?

The ebay link didn't work for me, but I love the Orchid dress! What area of the country do you live in?

I'm not from that part of the world, so can't give any personal recommendations unfortunately. You could start by checking out the businesses listed on Yell.com and go from there - good luck!

Hello! Yes that should work, I just tried the same thing and it has a list of over 300. I think if you click here it should show it.

I can't get the ebay link to work either but if you post the full page it should work ok.

...clicks second link... OMG that orchid dress is amazing [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] . Have you tried it on yet?

if you go to a bridal store they should ask your budget and they will work from that,if they dont ask then tell them the max you would like to spend

is there anyone you know who knows a dressmaker?

These kind of things are usually word-of-mouth, as far as i can tell.

I'm in Kent and I'm making my own dress.

The easiest way to go about having a dress made is to find a pattern from Simplicity or such like and have it made up.

if you were being really creative, local colleges do evening courses in dress-making (the college I went to had one that was simply making dresses and stuff from bought patterns. the teacher was ther on hand all the time to help with any problems and choosing fabrics etc)

if you don't mind, you can email me to tell me where you are exactly and I'll see if I have any connections.... (this probably won't help much if you're not in Kent, though!)

I got my wedding dress last year from Roman Originals, it was being sold off, absolutely beautiful and it only cost £60! Gorgeous detail on it, just like one you'd get from a bridal shop as well! They have stopped doing that now but I walked past the window the other day and they have a new one, so it might be worth taking a look and seeing it ifs something you'd like. They don't have a large selection, (in fact one I think!) but worth a try.

If there's not a store near you they have a website, just Google Roman Originals.

Also, BHS have lovely dresses for about £120 ish

    Hope this helps.
