Thank iproncess. Good luck with the weight loss. I tried and failed miserably at losing weight. I lost a stone and still looked the size I was and lost all motivation for it. Lucky im comfortable in my own skin. I dont like being this size but weight loss is so hard I never thought it would be so difficult. xx

Sorry if im high-jacking this thread but does anyone else get annoyed with the amount of sample dresses in wedding dress shops that are rediculously small sizes??

When I first got engaged many years ago I went to a couple of shops and neither of them had anything that would fit me. At the time I was between a 14-16 and I was made to feel really bad about it so this time when I got engaged I've not even set foot inside a bridal shop. I'm sure not all places are like it but I knew from the first time round that I didn't want a big white dress and so I just looked elsewhere. I found that the unusual dresses in particular were in tiny sizes and anything that fit over my breasts was just in styles not for me.

Sadly many dress shops seem to be all about the price tag and false comments that irk me greatly. I found locally that I could tell from the window if a shop would suit me. The bigger posher looking ones I felt embarrassed in and out of place but the ones with quirky coloured dresses and inspiring window displays were friendly and more genuine about really caring about my wedding.

I was a bad girl. I went into one of the posh ones one day after the school run, looked like a wreck - no make-up, old trainers, jeans and dinosaur knickers on (it still kills me to this day that I did this), and an old bra. I tried on dresses to the horror of the shop woman who had to help me into them and found my perfect dress. As the woman had been so rude to me to start with (I looked like I wouldn't be spending a lot I guess), I was not prepared to buy it from her. She'd only been nice to me after hearing me tell the other assistant my wedding venue was at somewhere locally considered to be very posh. I wrote down the design of the dress and surfed ebay, got it from a lovely lady for £150 instead of over £1000. Bargain :)

Silly thing is, if she had been nice to me instead of making me feel fat, frumpy and so out of place, i'd have happily ordered it from them and paid in installments. Her lesson should be not to judge a book by it's cover :) It's not like I was dirty or smelly, I had just done the school run! Well ok, the dinosaur knickers and old bra might be something you'd better avoid when going to a dress shop!

I had to get another dress as I've put on weight. At one time I was a size 12, and I know that dresses can vary in size in different shops, but now I'm more of a 14-16, and my wedding dress I thought fitted me, until my Mom pointed out a tiny zip underneath the lace up back of my dress and that wouldn't zip up. So gutted, but its my own fault, its the sheer amount of rubbish I'd eaten! I've now hired a beautiful wedding dress that I can't show you until I pick it up on the 18th or 19th June at the earliest but the detail is gorgeous, and I love it more so than my dress I had, so I'm happy! I think its a 16 in size but don't know. I'm going to buy some of those slimming pants for the day to tuck my bum in a bit, but the corset back when its tightened to how it should be really sucks in my belly and the lady said it takes me down at least a dress size, so I wouldn't need any slimming thing for my belly, but I might just to feel that little more confident in myself!
