Hello! I'm new to this whole forum thingy so I'm intregued as to what info/tips I can get rom you all!

I have been with my H2B for nearly 7 years now and have been engaged for nearly 6 years so have had a while to collect LOTS of bridal magazines! We have only just over the last couple of months started to plan the big day (17th Sept 2011).

I really want to find an affordable floaty chiffon dress that is like the Jenny Packham ones (that don't cost the earth!) Something that has a vintage feel to it would be lovely!

Also the 'sort-of-theme' I would like is 'rustic-vintage' maybe with a carnival feel - does that make any sense????

Anywho I'm babbling now!

Any tips greatly appreciated!

Hi and welcome!

I went to my venue to see it when it was set up once and they had bunting in bright colours and sunflowers on the table. It looked ace! I stole there idea for the bunting but mine was purple!

People on here are really nice, some of us are already married but we cant let go of weddings (i am an amazing 82 days into my marriage already now!!!!)

Welcome to BigDay! :)

Where are you getting married? Sorry, we're really nosy!

Have you been to look at any dresses yet? Luckily there are quite a few chiffon JP-esque dresses about at the moment - Maggie Sottero might be worth a try. For example:

Hi Mrs Brown (presumably not '2B' anymore!) and Becky,

Thanks for your replies, I love the idea of bunting! I might dust off my sewing machine and make my own so i can have the fabric that i want (it wasn't until we started planning this wedding that I found out that I am REALLY fussy!!!)

Those Maggie Sottero dresses are lovely! I would deffo need one with some corsetting in it to 'hold me in'! Are Maggie dresses expensive? My absolute max is £900 and that would have to be a dress that ticked ALL of the boxes!

I'm getting married in St Andrew's URC, Bournemouth and am having the reception at The Chine Hotel which has a lovely ballroom and is close to the beach!

I'm soooo excited!!!! :0)

Hmmmm I'm not entirely sure of the price, but depending on the dress some may be at the upper end of your price range. Like I said though - there are lots of JP style dresses around so it's definitely worth looking around a few shops and seeing what you like! Trying things on makes such a big difference - I thought I wanted a fishtail before I tried one on and discovered how uncomfortable they are!! :)

I made my own bunting too, 100 meters of it!!!!! I intended to sew it all but soon realised that it woudl take ages and I only decided to have it 6 weeks before, so pincking shears to cut each one came in very useful!!!!!

Yes I am a Mrs Brown, only havent figured out how to change my name ha ha

Welcome! A carnival theme sounds awesome. Kel recently had a gorgeous vintage theme and I am having a vintage / high tea meets Enid Blyton theme so you're in good company :)
