oh and on the subject of Asda - their yellow and white flower cupcakes would be awesome on a stand! They taste nicer and look better than the vastly more expensive waitrose ones.

Thanks guys, I might look into the village halls in the area. there's a lovely place i would love to get married, but the ceremony and registra fees would cost 1k alone, which is a chunk of the budget already

If you are in my area then i'm happy to give you all the research I did when looking for a venue. The Belvedere is awesome, I would say easily worth the ceremony and you can get round the thing of having their caterers by taking a picnic to that bottom area and having a champagne picnic? I thought about doing that but then fell for the whole vintage village hall thing. You are also having a small-ish wedding and there are a few places in the area offering good deals but it really depends on if you want a hotel type venue to do everything for you, or, find a venue and organise the rest yourself.
Nice to have someone local on here

Oooh if you are out that way then I can show you some nice little halls near Bovey Tracey if it's any help. Are you looking at a church wedding or just civil ceremony? If so then the most perfect idyllic country church is near you somewhere too. I'm at Cowley on the edge of Exeter. There are no less than 6 wedding shops in one area of Exeter so if you're bored one day we can fantasy shop for accessories if you like
Depending on what you're looking for there is also a big house locally you can rent for the weekend with a civil license. I found it after i'd booked the Belvedere. Have you been up there? It's well worth a walk round the grounds as although it's a lot of money, you can save on the reception elsewhere and we are not having their stupidly expensive drinks (£2.20 per person PLUS you have to supply the drink). It's public right of way and a public picnic area so we are taking ginger beer, elderflower champagne and little snacks to the picnic area. If it rains, we'll go straight to the reception and have them there.
