So this might sound like a bit of a div question, but we're on a bit of a wedding organising binge and have got to the point of working out what the boys have to wear.

Obviously Neil and the best man are gonna be in suits of a similar ilk and in my head so are the ushers. What about the Dad's, what do they do? Does Neil's Dad wear the same as the rest of them and how about my Dad?

My thought was that if the majority of the wedding party are in morning suits (which is what Neil wants) and my Dad is in normal suit, it might look odd in photos?

Any thoughts welcome :) x

No idea how it is meant to be but we are having Gareth and his bestman in tails and then the ushers, my brother and Gareth's dad are in morning suits. I t might look odd that we are having two different sets of suits but at this point i dont care, it is what the men are happy with and that is what matters

Up to you really! Some people have all the men of the ceremony (ie groom, best man, ushers and fathers) wearing the same suit, others don't bother. We didn't have anyone in a matching suit, but they all had the same buttonholes (apart from Ian's which was slightly different) which tied them all together :)

Ditto Becky!

You choose what you think will look best, maybe ask your Dads to both wear the same colour tie or something if you wanted to make them similar for the photos but different from the others. What does your dad want to wear? Maybe ask him what he would feel happy in.

Similar to Becky all the men wore their own suits so were all different, and to make them stand out as part of the wedding party rather than just guests we then gave groom and best men matching waistcoats, and then groom, best men and dads all had the same colour ties and a buttonhole.

We didn't have ushers but hubbie, best man and both dads wore same suit. Hubbie was meant to be having a different waistcoat but they sent the wrong ones for the others so in the end they all had the same. Hubbie had a different button hole though. I did want hubbie in a different tie, and couldn't find colour to match bridesmaid dresses so they all just had ivory.

We are similar to MrsBrown, no ushers - Groom, best man and both Dads all being told to wear a black suit and I am making waistcoats and cravats for them OH will have a different waistcoat and cravat to the others.

We only had a best man (no ushers) but we had the dads x2 and the brothers x2 all in the same tie and buttonhole as the best man, so that they tied in and it was obvious that they weren't just 'ordinary' guests.

I guess if we'd had the budget I might have liked them all in the same suit, but since they were providing their own suits we didn't feel it would be fair to ask them to buy new ones especially.

ok, think we've decided that Neil, Best Man and both ushers will be in the same suit and the Dad's can both wear their own suit but have same colour tie and button holes. Neil's going to differentiate waist coat and button hole wise I think....

Suits is next thing on the agenda so need to get cracking really!

Glad you've got it sorted! :) Where are you thinking of hiring the suits from?

Not really sure, we've a few ideas, but nothing concrete. Neil gave details to a super expensive tailor between Wilmslow and Alderley Edge to be poilte at a wedding fair we went to (hahahaha fool!) and they phoned the other day. They charge £200 just to hire a basic suit!! Then you have to buy waistcoats etc to go with it. He pretty much laughed down the phone at her and said that was about double the budget per suit. I suppose in deepest footballer territory she wouldn't be used to people asking the price of stuff :D

Yep. Neil laughed at her. Don't get me wrong, their suits are gorgeous, but that's outrageous. I can't believe that people would pay that, but I guess in that part of the world they probably do.

We're having the groom/best man & ushers and 2 dads all in the same suits but there's no rules, do whatever you want

£200 to hire a suit is madness, I can't belive some people pay these prices!!

The groom, best man, ushers, page boy, father of groom and my dad are all wearing the same except the groom will have a different cravat. I think everyone does it differently and theres no right or wrong way to do it.
