Has anyone seen these? Really popular in the US but i'd not seen them over here. You can make them in advance which I like the idea of and it would save needing to bake in the few days before the wedding. I like the idea of velvet sponge and vanilla or choc icing, glitter and little loveheart sprinkes.

They look ace. Does the cake last longer in the jar or is it a special recipe that makes them last?

I've never seen or heard of this before! They look cool though, and like you say could be a good idea so you can make them in advance.

How cool are these rainbow ones?!

Awesome rainbow cake!

I don't think they last any longer than 'normal' cake. You can use any cupcake/sponge cake mix but in a jar instead of a cupcake case (so unless you have loads of jars already a bit more expensive), does look cool though! :D

How long do cupcakes last Helen? I dont fancy making 120 cupcakes the day before.

I would say it depends a bit on the type of cupcake mix you use, but very roughly I would say the mini ones only last a day and bigger ones 2-3 days.

You can make them in advance and freeze them (before icing) then all you have to do is ice them nearer the time.

I've kept the larger size for nearly two weeks before they start to grow mould, however they had lost the light texture way before that (and that was keeping them in an airtight tub), ok for the husbands lunch but not for wedding guests I would say!

I am going to make some in jars for the website photo shoot so will let you know how that goes!

They do look good, and also unusual. I'm being thick here, do you make the cake then put it in the jar or...make them in the jars. I've a feeling thats a really really stupid question  I don't bake!!

You can do either. I got bored of the idea now though and moved on to cake pops. Just need to find something to use as a cake pop stand now :)

They made cake pops on something for the weekend a while ago... they look pretty cool. Although I couldn't help but think that I'd end up making a right mess, surely as you push them up, the layers fall out?!

Mmmmmm cake pops! I made cow cake pops to go on our wedding cake, this involved a lot of rejected ones that husband was very keen on eating haha! I didn't know you could get a cake pop maker though, I just used cake and crumbled it up into balls :D
