Lovely stories everyone.

Here is mine...

Me and Daniel use to hang about with each other when we were 14/15 never anything not even a kiss even though we both liked each other and lost touch and went our own seperate ways.
I had two children from previous relationships so wasnt really looking for anything. After getting back in touch via Facebook in October 2009 it was like we were never apart. He popped the question on Valentines Day 2010 (My daughters birthday).I said yes and here we are today lol I know its quick but it feels so right and on our wedding night we will ttc our child between us Posted Image

There are such lovely, and funny, proposals here!
My h2b, Spence, and I have been together 14 years this Christmas Eve (I always joke now that he stole my 20's). He proposed to me on Christmas Eve 2003, on one knee whilst wearing his tatty old dressing gown, and presented me with an engagement watch! He didn't want to choose the ring either but wanted me to have a token of his proposal! We really wanted to get married in Vegas, as Spence has already had the big white wedding in his previous wedding. Unfortunately we never got the money together and several things kept us from going ahead as my son has Duchenne muscular dystrophy and we've been fighting to get a downstairs bed/bathroom for him for 10years! We found out 3 weeks ago that this was finally going ahead which is a huge relief. Also one of my best friends got married on the 1st May, which made me keen to set a date and I didn't want to get married at the age of 35 which is later this year. So we sat down and talked about it decided to just go for it and booked the registry office the next day, gave notice, bought the rings and I bought my dress all within the following week. I've since made the evening invites. It's going to be a very low budget wedding and we havn't given ourselves much time! The ceremony wil be ourselves and 15 close family and friends, the wedding breakfast is at a very nice local restaurant and the evening do is kindly being held at a friends house as the builders will be at ours by then! I managed to get my stepdaughter a dress (she's going to be holding the rings), my son is giving me away and my stepson is going to be best man, their suits are bought and I bought the cummerbands, bow ties, handkerchiefs, guest book, cupcake stand, favour bags, wedding shoes, place settings and table decs over the past couple of days! I'm getting really excited as I never thought we'd actually get round to it.
Sorry, just realised i've gone on a bit!

Hi girls - loving your stories. I got engaged a few weeks ago. A total surprise which was nearly ruined as we were meant to be in Rome, but couldn't go due to the ash cloud. But we ended up having an amazing time in the Cotswolds instead. He was begging me to go for a romantic walk in the gardens of our hotel but I flat refused as it was freezing and I had no idea what he was up to. In the end, he had to get down on one knee in the doorway!

On a similar note, I would actually love to see if any of your other halves would like to contribute to an article I've been commissioned to write for a national glossy magazine about the moment that made him want to pop the question. I'm looking for anything from the sweet and romantic, to the completely practical! Was it seeing you cheering on his favourite football team? The way you kissed on your first date? If you fancy sharing your story please get in touch for more details – lbennettfreelance@hotmail.co.uk. Thanks!

Ahhh ladies all your stories are so sweet and romantic........ Mine is not quite in the same league (in fact I keep telling him i'm still waiting), We have been together 7 years this year and have been through plenty of ups and downs to know that we can survive anything. My OH has been married before and got pooped on from a great height many a times from her so was in no hurry to get married again and I always wanted it but figured my time would come as we moved fairly quickly in the relationship, we practically lived together from day 1 and bought a house together after 6 months but after 4 years still no proposal and when ever I tried to talk about it he wouldn't. This lead to me deciding we needed to discuss it every 6 months ish from our 4 year anniversary onwards and received the same silence. Until last September when (i still don't know what changed - he's not a one for talking feelings) he said Yes he wanted to get married - Cue me bombarding him with ideas for my e ring and starting to plan. We even chose a date and booked the engagement party before I had a ring.

He didn't want to tell people until he had got my ring so kept me waiting a month before I could tell and even once my ring had arrived (much to his annoyance it turned up when I had a day off and I was first up so knew exactly what it was) he kept me waiting 4 days before I got it and even then we were heading to my parents for dinner and I said I would go earlier if I had nothing to tell them but if we had news then I would wait and we would go together, so in the end I got " I better give you this then" and given the box as he headed out to work!

No romance there at all, but I love him and he was obviously ready as he wouldn't budge if he wasn't ready so that makes it special to me - although I might keep pestering for a romantic proposal!

:)

Me and my OH are childhood sweethearts and met in art class when we were 2 very awkward 15 year olds! I told my best friend that I liked him and made her promise not to tell anyone, a promise she didn't keep and I'm very grateful that she didn't! She told one of our other friends who knew him who gave him clues as to who I was. It turned out he liked me too and after 3 weeks of constant texting we got together and the rest is history!

Forward 7 years and I was getting pretty desperate for a proposal, all the major occasions I thought he would do it my 18th.......our 5th anniversary........ and my 21st had all passed with nothing happening. For our 7th anniversary my OH suggested going to stay at a hotel in Bournemouth for the weekend and I started to think "this is it." We get there on the Saturday we do some shopping, he bought me a teddy and we go out for a meal in the evening. NOTHING. I'm starting to get pretty impatient by this time! I'd grown my nails so they were all long and pretty for this and it looked like it was going to be a waste of time! Anyway, we wake up on the sunday wrap up warm and head to the beach (it was february and very cold!) We get down there and start walking along the sand. He stopped and was looking out at the sea and he pointed out some mad guy canoeing (In February!?) while I was busy trying to see, he put his arms around me and asked me to marry him and popped a ring in front of me. All I could see was this beautiful ring with the sea in the background, I was so stunned I forgot to say yes and he had to ask me again! I must add that he picked the ring himself and it is exactly the sort of ring I would have picked myself, he really does know me that well!

I very nearly ruined my H2b proprosal with a great big stonking mood!! ha ha

After 7 years together I hoped he would propose but had kind of resigned myself to the fact that as he is very stubborn and knows his own mind, he would do it when he was ready.

We were on holiday in a lovely hot beautiful country, and we headed to the beach for a stroll as the sun was setting... every so often my H2b surprises me with romantic gestures like this so it wasn't obvious to me that this time was different.
I headed toward a little wooden jetty as I wanted to look at the fish!! He followed me on... he said 'look over there... can you see the top of our hotel?' i turned and little did I know he took the ring out of his pocket..... then an old couple got onto the jetty.... to just stand there it would seem.

He said he tried to keep me there for as long as he could without me questioning him... but this couple did not budge.... 10 minutes later I had had enough of the fish and wanted to go.... he had to agree...

The moment we got off the Jetty, so did the other couple (this is all retrospective from my point of view, but looking back I can imagine his frustrations!!)... its like they were trying to spoil our moment.... would you get on a little jetty that already had a couple on who clearly looked like they were having a romantic moment? anyway.....

As we walked away he noticed they jetty was empty again and he said later that he had decided that he wanted to propose on there but he had to get me back on! As we strolled along he suddenly stopped... and was patting his pockets... he said 'oh no... the money... its fallen out of my pocket..' now we had taken all our money with us as we hadnt yet got the key for the safety deposit box. I asked him where he thought it might be as calmly as i possibly could!! He replied that he think it dropped it on the jetty...

Cue me legging it back to see if I could see the money, at this point the sun was setting and it was getting dark... I thought I saw something underneath the jetty and promptly started rolling my trousers up, i got my legs in the water ready to jump in...!! I was getting really cross, saying I coldnt believe he had done this as he had told me he would look after the money because I'm so clumsy!! H2b suddenly realised what I was doing and decided he better get down on one knee before I submerged myself! He later told me he thought he would tell me he had dropped the credit cards... but couldnt decide if I would be more mad about that!!!

Anyway, I accepted after getting out of the water! ha ha

Hi

Just joined this site to see if what its like, been on You and Your Wedding since I got engaged but someone said this site was better so thought I would say hi and check it all out!!

I met my fiance through internet dating, Id split with my ex 2 years before, and, having made the decision to have a couple of years out to do what I want before I started dating again. As all my friends were in relationships going pubbing n clubbing to pull wasnt really my thing and nor theirs so I thought for a laugh id check out internet dating.

I was on it for several months and met some lovely guys but not the right man for me and was about to pack it in when I had just one more look and there in my in-box was a message from a rather scruffy fella who seemed rather nice.

Ok so I didnt fall off my seat madly in love with his looks but his reply did make me laugh and so I decided to contact him back

After a few dates we decided that we would just remain friends until one day he said he was going to the cinema and would I like to join him and one of his female friends - well jealous or what - I couldnt believe the emotions running through me! I realised that at that point that his friendship was more than just friends.

After I said I would prefer it to be just us (he was a little confused) and a 4hr instant messanger conversation till the early hours of the 15th February 4yrs ago we both realised we both felt the same about eachother and started dating.

6 months later we bought a house and 4 years later he propsed to me on Christmas day - he popped the question in my Christmas card!

I was totally overwhelmed with the shock of the question as although I wasnt expecting him to propose I had hinted more than once (well perhaps more than 10 or 12 times I think)! that he actually got round to doing it.

I love my OH so much, he is so kind, loyal and caring. He always looks after me and I know he feels the same about me.

Oh yes, my engagement ring was my grandmothers, 3 diamond platinum shank and setting on 18ct gold.

xxx

all these stories are so sweet i wish mine was.
i shall set the scene me and Gareth in bed me being eight months pregnant and getting kicked black and blue internally, trying read but give up turned the light off and snuggled down ready to go to sleep. We tend to chat for a min and then pass out.
It was a very blunt
'so do you want to be Mrs Boucher in a few years?'
'suppose so since you have already got me knocked up' I was joking i really do love Gareth.
'So?'
'So what?'
'will you marry?'
'yes'

We didnt tell anyone for a few months Abi being born kept us busy. He did surprise me with a ring in Feb, he came down stairs whilst i was cooking, he had Abi in his arms, he got down on one knee and there was Abi chewing on a ring box.
see not very sweet or romantic but very Gareth.
