Good news - I tried on my wedding dress this morning and it still fits!! :D

Our photographer has offered to do a free photo shoot of me in my dress, and now that wedding season is tailing off I'm going to try and book some time in the diary. Only problem is that I can't decide what kind of shoot to have!

Options:
  • He has a studio in his house, so can take photos with excellent lighting etc. He also has a green screen, so can put a background in at a later date.
  • I could get the photos taken where I live - we are planning on moving away next year, and it would be a nice momento.

Here are some pics I found of where I live (if it looks familiar, it's where Salma had her engagement shoot):

The weather is a lot more temperamental at this time of year, so if we tried doing photos outside that might be tricky.

Here is our photographer's non-wedding site - Rick Milnes.

As much as I'd love to have the shoot done here in Castlefield, I think it would be a safer bet to go for the studio. That way we can at least play around with backgrounds - could have photos of Castlefield, or maybe something more interesting.

What do you think?

I like the idea of the pics outside, but with this weather being so unpredictable, you may be better off indoors. If the studio is near Castlefield could you do a mixture of both?

It's about a 20 minute drive away, so a last minute change of plan won't be the end of the world.

I've just sent an email to the lady who did my make up for the wedding to see if she can do it for the shoot! :D

oooh exciting. How about the studio and is there anywhere outside near it you could go to if the weather is fab on the day, maybe he has a garden or something? Or, you could just bat your eyelids, claim to be a complete girl and say you can't decide as you'd soooooooo love both ;)

I love it! :D

It's looking like it will be on 10th October - yay! I feel excited already (and am slightly regretting the huge lunch... but how can you say no to jacket potatoes stuffed with boursin, leeks and topped with melted cheddar?!)

Okehampton in Devon. Go on, you know you want to. Apart from the whole world closing at 5pm and on Mondays and Wednesday afternoons, a serious lacki of take aways and lots of hills, there are no drawbacks. xxxx

Lymm! You know you want to :-D as long as you don't ever need public transport and love tourists, its great ;-)

If you could get photos in Castlefield they'd look wicked, helps he has a green screen, but the real thing would look great. Stupid weather!

It's in the diary! Monday 10th October in the morning, and we'll be in Castlefield. He was saying that even in the rain it should still be fine - can just go underneath the railway bridges. Should be interesting... I'm certainly glad I didn't get the dress cleaned before the shoot!!

Re moving, we're not sure yet! Our first choice is somewhere just south of Manchester - maybe Altrincham, Wilmslow or Hale. However it's expensive around there, so alternatively we've been thinking about Harrogate as you can get more for your money (comparatively!). The wild card is San Francisco!! We're not going to start properly house hunting until January, can't wait.

I agree, go for outside if at all possible, it'll be brill to have all sorts of shots of you & the dress that you won't have been able to do on the wedding day for fear of dirtying the dress.

From the looks of it the location is near where my sister in law used to live, she's moved to Stockport now, heaton le moor I think it is. We used to cross that bridge to get to town from her flat, I'm sure.

The photographer has suggested a walk down Deansgate as part of the shoot - being the busiest street in Manchester!! Should be fun!

I know those areas well, used to work in sale and south trafford was in my patch and I have friends down that way too. I believe it is very expenisive, though so is harrogate! Ilkley is nice too but has a price tag to match! Will that mean new jobs too???

The area is lovely, not far from yorkshire dales but very different to Manchester!!

if you go down Deansgate can I come and cheer you on? :D

Used to work in Wilmslow - gorgeous but overrated and full of toffy nobbers. I work in Hale now, it's lovely and a brilliant little village, am I right in thinking you went out to the Hale grill one time? It's got great restaurants and a totally wicked amazing wine shop ;)
