I am, for once, not being cynical about buying something from Hong Kong for something as important as a wedding day.
My friend has just taken delivery of two really lovely rings from this chap on ebay and I have to eat my words about her regretting the purchase. She spent a grand total of £16 and free delivery on her titanium ring, had it custom engraved on the inside with her wedding date and it's really well made. The inside is contoured (not sure what the official word is but jewellers over here charge to do it), so that it's a comfy fit.
The man sells tungesten, chrome, plated chrome and titanium only as far as I can see but has 100% positive feedback and at the prices he charges, there are no customs fees unless you opt for something really expensive. Not sure how that works but my friend has not been charged and neither does anyone else according to his feedback.
So, if you don't mind your ring being made by mice working in the dark, 24 hours a day with no food or water and only sawdust for a bed then these are probably worthy of a look. His shop page has guides to the different metals which are worth a look just for the information.
I'm considering having a ring engraved as a thankyou for my MOH as he does some really pretty ones. Not sure but will let you all know if I do. It's just the possible mice that make them that worries me.

Mice with laser beams by the look of it!!
That's a bargain, it's good to hear that your friend had a positive experience. Are you going to get yours from there? At this rate you'll have the wedding ring before the engagement ring!

I'm not sure what to do. I have to say it's so tempting but then would it go with my non-yet-existent engagement ring? On the plus side with that, Ben has got the diamond, just not had the ring made so technically it could be made from titanium or tungesten. Trouble is I am a traditional mare at times and rather like the notion of platinum just because I am being a diva about not having a ring yet!

How about palladium as a compromise? It's in the same atomic group as platinum on the periodic table and looks exactly the same, but it's a lot cheaper. I've got a platinum ring and Ian got palladium and you can't tell the difference between them.

Can't believe I just said both 'atomic group' and 'periodic table' on a wedding forum...!!

App palladium varies in price so much, one month it can be low, next really high (As high as platimum). Platimun tends to stay same ish so is more or less always expensive. Our jeweler who made our ring, said he buys the palladium when it is cheaper to make the rings, but the price will then go up! He sells them cheaper, but the price can go up so dont think it second best!
I had a platimum engagement ring so got same in wedding ring, hubbie had palladium and you really cant tell!!

I went for white gold as I think it has a 'softer' look than platinum (plus it is somewhat cheaper!). We had my engagement ring specially made as I wanted a green stone rather than a diamond and I'm really pleased with it

My ring is white gold. H2be is actually Titanium and believe it or not i brought it from Mr.Wang on ebay. It is a beautiful ring but i doubt h2be will wear it more than a week before losing it which one of the reasons i went with Mr.Wang.
the ring is perfect and it arrived earlier than i thought it would so win win.

My hubbie nearly lost his wedding ring on honeymoon! It came off in the sea.. luckily and amazingly a woman with a snorkle found it. I was sat on the beach non the wiser, watching simon talk to this woman and wondering what he was up to! App she didnt speak english or french (hubbie speaks french) and was from italy and they were trying to communicate through signs with tiny fish biting his feet whilst he dare not move as it would sink in the sand! We were very lucky!! He since takes it off in the shower or swimming pool.
He wasnt sure he would wear one before hand but now really likes it.

ours are palladium .. and next to my engagement which is platinum you wouldn't know the difference... we went for palladium cos it was the less costly option at the time.
Those Mr Wang rings are pretty though - great bargain hunting!
