Hi

I am fairly new, and thought I would like some input on my plans so far!!
My H2B and I are getting married 29th September 2012 in Wembury, Devon.
We have booked our church and venue (Wembury Church and Langdon Court Hotel)
Attached Image: Church.jpg Attached Image: langdon.jpg

I am thinking about having my dress made for me. I saw an amazing dress by designer Amy Michelson, but it's very expensive and is only available in the US. So I have drawn a design based upon it and would like feed back if people think it would be suitable for a September church wedding.

I have a colour theme of Espresso Brown, Orange and Ivory. With splashes of bright green and gold to lighten it up a bit!
For my 3 bridesmaids I want to put them in different dresses with the same accessories, or the same dress with different accessories.
Here are two of the suggestions, but they will be espresso brown.

I also have my cake design in mind, sorry about the small image!

I love it, so pretty and delicate.

I need flower suggestions, they will be cream and orange. I love gerbera daisies, but they don't really look that good next to lace, so I have been leaning towards roses and ranunculus flowers. If anyone has any other suggestions for flowers that look good next to lace in orange and cream!!!!

Any other suggestions are also welcome!
xx

Hi. Welcome to the forum!

OMG your church is amazing! I would have adored that church and you will get some amazing photos of the sea (just a tiny bit jealous!!)

I just adore roses so they always get my vote. I got married begin of sept last year and we had fairly good weather. I had roses in my flowers, with herbs and ivy in which gave it a very relaxed feel. My bridesmaids had rose corsages which looked great and my little ones had fairy wands! On our tables we had hydrangeas and roses in pinks, creams and purples. I am a little bit biased though- and remember it is your wedding so you should have flowers you both love!

Your colours will fit really well with september and autumn. We thought about brown, but given my new surname decided against!!!

oh and your dress is lovely! Looking forward to hearing more plans

Hello and a big welcome. I'm another Devon wedding but a bit further west than you. I love the dress drawings, the lace will look really stunning with the handkerchief hemline. I love both bridesmaid dress ideas, maybe you could combine the styles like you suggested and have the same accessories. That way you get both dresses you like

Agreed that the cake is so pretty, I love the floral cakes. As for other flowers, on this forum somewhere is a lovely lady whose name I have momentarily forgotten - she is a florist and always really helpful with advise for brides as to the best flowers for each season and the best value too. I'll look up her idea as you could pop her a quick message, she's always really helpful.;

Welcome again and enjoy the site

Welcome to the site!

The setting of your church is just beautiful! The venue looks gorgeous too - looks like you're going to have a fantastic day! I'm also very impressed with your drawing skills - the dress looks beautiful and I think it would be perfect for a September wedding.

You can get Calla Lilys in orange and they are really pretty - here are some pics:

Thanks for the welcomes!

The church also has an amazing stain glass window (one of the reasons why I love it!) plus with a beach at the bottom of the hill it had to be there, seeing as both of us lived near the sea for the majority of our lives!

My mother is currently decorating a cake for a friends wedding with roses and ivy! It is a really pretty combination. I can see the dilemma of the surname colour scheme MrsBrown. I kind of want to play up to my families surname by having a harpist, but Mike is less than likely to agree with me!

Popple - Where abouts in Devon? I may end up doing so, especially seeing as one of the girls suits strapless and the others don't! That would be a brilliant help to have the name of someone who knows which flowers will cost me less!

Thank you Becky, I have never really thought my drawing are good! Below is a picture of the designers one, its a bit fancier on the top half. Oooh I have never really looked at lilys before.

That dress is so WOW.

I'm in Exeter but moving to Okehampton in a few weeks. If you ever want to go wedding shopping there are a whole load of lovely wedding shops here all in two streets.

All of Amy Michelson's collection is amazing, pricey, but amazing!
I may have to take my mum on a day trip, she has always liked visiting Exeter, mainly because its less hilly than Plymouth.

Hi welcome to the site - and thank you for feeding our need for pictures so promptly. You Church I have to say looks so so so perfect by the sea, wow.

All your ideas look lovely as well, you are so far advanced ideas wise than I was at the same stage of my engagement! The dress does look really special, and would be great for a Sept wedding. Who/where would make it up?

Enjoy your planning and keep us updated :(

There is a lady in the South Hams, Devon called Michele Ann May (http://www.michelean...uk/info.php?p=1) who gave me a good quote for making it. She specialises in making dresses using silks and laces so its perfect!!!
I felt it was only right to feed the need to pictures, I am the same love looking at other peoples planning pictures!!

I spent the day yesterday with my bridesmaid and honorary wedding planner and got round to having finally had all of them try on bridesmaid dresses for me. I will put up pictures when I find the cord for my phone again! I very much enjoyed my day of gossiping and planning.

Currently on the search for a very good affordable photographer. Unfortunately I am fussy so this is proving very difficult. But I am spoilt for choice when it comes to asking friends and family to get informal shots and evening shots. Every time I try looking for a day time photographer I remember someone else who is good at photography, or someone suggests someone they know who is just starting out or takes amazing images. Starting to think there will be more photographers there than guests! Posted Image

Plus - something I totally forgot - we were recommended a freelance florist Philip Taylor Corps (http://www.taylorcorps.com/).
They lady my mum is decorating a cake for has pointed us towards him. She also shared with us his formal plan for her flowers, which are really interesting and really detailed.

Sorry for being rubbish at actually posting anything in the last week. Been searching for flats or houses for our move next month.

On wedding planning news - Photographer is booked and so are the cars!!!

The photographer is a friend from a training course a few years back, who is based in Falmouth and is in the process of establishing himself as a photographer.

My cars are from a lovely local company, who have been very kind in discounting our price as we have hired the bigger of the two cars a few times before!
Attached Image: davidscars.jpg

They are lovely vintage style cars, the large seating 6 and the small seating 2 (plus chauffeurs).

I am feeling on top of things at the moment having got venue, church, cars, photographer, dress designer and (fingers crossed) florist booked. Just the details to go!!
Which knowing me will result in me changing my mind every 2 days!!!

Currently I am thinking about my shoes. They have to be flats! I am not over tall (5'7) but my h2b is only 5'9-10 so as soon as I put heels on I feel like a giant!! I like the idea of getting some ballet shoes with ribbon ties, but the soles are so thin on them and both venues have gravel paths. Unfortunately any form of ballet pump I find is either not pretty enough or wont stay on my narrow feet. Anyone got any ideas of where a good place to look would be?!
